Share The Wealth Clerkship Program

JTB is offering a special opportunity to be considered for seven (7) federal district court clerkships and five (5) federal magistrate court clerkship – in one interview, and to encourage you to apply. District Judge Linda V. Parker and several of her colleagues feel that it is important to encourage diverse students to compete for federal judicial clerkships. These judges accept and consider law clerk applicants of all backgrounds, and this opportunity is merely an effort in addition to, not in lieu of, traditional application channels. Rising 3Ls, as well as law school graduates, interested in federal clerkships should apply. Unfortunately, rising 2Ls are not allowed to apply for 2023-2024 term clerkships.

The Share the Wealth Judicial Law Clerk Program is a referral program run by judges. Participating judges, screen qualified law student applicants, conduct panel interviews with twenty (20) students, and consider them for full-time clerkship positions. At the conclusion of this initial process, students who are not extended an offer by one of the judges may have their application packages shared with additional judges who have requested information on applicants through JTB.

Seven Federal District Court Judges and five Federal Magistrate Judges will be conducting a round of interviews in connection with Just the Beginning–A Pipeline Organization’s Share the Wealth Judicial Law Clerk Program. Twenty students will be selected to interview; you may not attend unless you are specifically invited to do so. The interview will occur using Zoom on August 18 and August 19, 2022. The selected students will be notified via email of the exact time slot for their interview. Please note that most clerkships are for a one-year term starting in 2023.

The following federal judges and bankruptcy judge will be participating in the law clerk interview session:

  • District Judge Linda Parker (EDMI)
  • District Judge Judith Levy (EDMI)
  • Magistrate Judge Patricia Morris (EDMI)
  • Magistrate Judge Curtis Ivy (EDMI)
  • Magistrate Judge Jonathan Grey (EDMI)
  • District Judge Raymond Jackson (EDVA)
  • Magistrate Judge Ivan Davis (EDVA)
  • District Judge Benita Pearson (NDOH)
  • District Judge Iain Johnston (NDIL)
  • Senior District Judge Ivan Lemelle (EDLA)
  • Chief Judge Tanya Pratt (INSD)
  • Magistrate Judge Ajmel Quereshi (MDD)

Each judge will review applications and participate in deciding which students to invite to this special round of interviews. You must submit a separate application package via OSCAR to each judge whom you would like to consider your application. Please see below for further clarification on application deadlines and submission guidelines for specific judges. The panel will only interview candidates who will agree to be considered for a clerkship by at least three of the fourteen participating judges. The application deadline is July 8, 2022.
